‘Blue Shadows’

It was a beautiful day today. Brilliant blue skies.

We left early and walked for hours. We noticed a coffee place on Google Maps with glowing 5 star reviews so we walked towards it. Quirky machinery and abandoned farm equipment lined the way. The kind of place Hannibal Lector might keep a holiday home.

I couldn’t find an obvious entrance so tried, what looked like, a back door. A surprised looking lad greeted us and asked if he could help. We tried to buy a cup of coffee and he laughed and explained that this was a roastery so we bought a bag of coffee instead and trudged on.

An hour later we found a cafe in an old stone building. We flopped on the couch and zonked out until a sweet Italian family arrived. There was some sort of toilet emergency with their poor kids and the smiles turned to tantrums so we slipped away back into the calm.

Outside was an churchyard with Alice in Wonderland like topiary. We got lost in the bushes, chatted to some of the locals and took photos of the shadows and strange shapes against the bright blue sky.
