‘Justified and Ancient’

I nearly put a more aesthetically pleasing photo up for today’s offering (a ripped, golden-hued cat poster) but this one makes me smile more.

I found it in a spot on a residential street where lots of day time (and night time and in-between time) drinking goes on. It’s also a fly-tipping spot for smallish household waste and all sorts of things have appeared here over the years. Broken air-fryers, knickers, dead plants.

Today this ‘justified and ancient’ sign appeared without any context. It may have come from an old protest or festival but it felt like today it was designating this strange, age-old drinking spot as a national heritage site.
